Sea Kayaking |
The difficulty scale below gives an indication of the level of physical fitness and kayaking experience required for each trip. In addition to the length of the trip, the difficulty is affected by factors such as weather, waves, wind, the nature of the trip, and the remoteness of the destination.
The scale is only a general guide – the same trip can feel very different to different people. If you are unsure which trip is right for you, please get in touch. We can discuss your experience, goals, and the details of the trip together.
Easy
Easy trips are also well suited to beginners or to those who want to enjoy nature without long or physically demanding days on the water. Paddling days are approximately 4–6 hours, with regular breaks along the way.
The route and daily schedule are planned so that there is also plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, nature, and time together. Previous kayaking experience is not necessarily required, but a normal level of fitness and the ability to spend several hours on the water are essential. Suitable for you if:
You want to discover sea kayaking at a relaxed pace.
You enjoy nature and outdoor activities without focusing on physical performance.
You do not yet have much kayaking experience.
You prefer reasonably moderate-length days.
Moderate

Moderate trips require a good basic level of fitness and previous kayaking experience. We may paddle for longer days and in varied or more challenging weather and water conditions. Participants are expected to be able to paddle for several hours a day and manage their own energy levels throughout the trip. Suitable for you if:
You have a good basic level of fitness.
You have previous kayaking experience and are comfortable with basic kayak techniques.
You are prepared for long paddling days of 6–8 hours.
You want to progress a little further and experience more challenging conditions.
Challenging

Challenging trips are intended for fit and experienced paddlers. Days can be long, and making progress may require both physical endurance and strong technical skills. Compared with moderate trips, the main difference is that we paddle longer distances and operate in more demanding conditions. Wind, waves, long distances, and potentially remote areas all increase the demands of the trip. You should be able to control your kayak when conditions change and be capable of acting independently as part of a group. Suitable for you if:
You have good physical fitness and strong paddling endurance.
You have extensive experience in sea kayaking and more challenging conditions.
You are comfortable handling a kayak in wind and waves.
You are accustomed to long paddling days of 7–9 hours.
