Hinnøya and the Lofoten Islands – A Kayaking Adventure in Norway’s Wild Landscapes
Join us on an unforgettable kayaking expedition through some of Northern Europe’s most breathtaking scenery: the islands of Hinnøya and Lofoten. This week-long adventure takes you along dramatic coastlines shaped by glaciers, winds, and waves over thousands of years. Towering mountains rise straight from the sea, white sandy beaches invite us ashore, and the ever-changing northern light gives each day its own unique colours and atmosphere.
Our journey begins on the island of Hinnøya, from where we will explore the waters around Hinnøya and the Lofoten Islands. Over the following days, we will paddle through fjords, narrow straits, and the open waters of the Atlantic, navigating in harmony with the tides. You don’t need previous experience in tidal waters – our experienced guide will teach you how to read the currents and navigate safely in changing conditions.
Every day brings new experiences. We will glide past towering cliffs, discover small fishing villages, and may even spot white-tailed eagles, seals, or porpoises. The soundscape belongs entirely to nature: the splash of paddles, the cries of gulls, and the steady rhythm of the tides.
We will camp in the heart of nature, on secluded sandy beaches and remote headlands, pitching our tents and preparing meals together. In the evenings, we will sit by the sea, enjoying the silence and the extraordinary light of the northern sky. Depending on the season, you may experience the endless daylight of the midnight sun or the magical colours of autumn, when the air turns crisp and the mountains receive their first dusting of snow.
This trip is designed for kayakers with previous experience (EPP 2 level) who want to explore Norway’s wild coastline safely under the guidance of an experienced leader. This is not about performance or covering distances as quickly as possible, but about a peaceful journey of discovery – taking time to pause, breathe, and feel the power of the North.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival on Hinnøya
We meet on the island of Hinnøya, get to know the group, and organise our equipment. We spend the first night in a comfortable cabin, included in the trip price.
Days 2 - 6 – Kayaking around Hinnøya and the Lofoten Islands. We embark on our kayaking expedition through spectacular coastal landscapes, camping in tents among the islands. Routes are selected according to weather conditions and the tides. Each day combines kayaking, exploration, and time to relax in nature. Our final night is spent indoors.
Day 7 – Departure
We say our goodbyes and begin our journey home, with salt in our hair, new memories in our minds, and perhaps a little longing in our hearts to return to the sea.
This trip is much more than a kayaking holiday – it is a journey into the wild heart of Norway’s coastline, where mountains meet the sea and time seems to stand still.
